Any CS players here? If so, we can set up a game.

From what I can see we are probably the only ones on this server who play cs. Let's wait a few more days and see maybe someone else will join in.
I saw and read reviews of cs for xbox and all of them say the same thing "GARBAGE". It was an effortless cheap shot to recreate the pc version. One of my friends played it for Xbox and he didn't like it also.

I wanna set up a game so reinstall that mother. Remember that it is Steam now and CS 1.6 just in case you haven't played in a long time.
Also I never said I was very good. I used to be but quit for about 8 months so now I'm not good.

I don't like Counter Strike, now battlefield 1942, THATS a game. If any of you want to play that I have a bespoke server we can all use.

Originally you had to have the Half-Life CD and then download the CS mod. But now they have just the Counter-Strike game that you can buy. It comes in a yellow box. Might as well just save yourself some money and buy the CS CD.....seeing as how Half-Life wasn't that fun of a game in my opinion. I like the live online only action the best.
As far as needing broadband.........you don't absolutely need it but it sure helps alot. If you are on dialup you will probably lag a little bit and as you are shooting at the enemy your bullets will probably be behind him because you have a short lag. Sometimes it is unbearable and you freeze and then jump ahead.........almost like you teleported....hahaha. All depends on how good of a dialup connection you have and how many people are in the server.

There is a link to the amazon place.....you can get a new one for about 12 dollars.....make sure it is new though so you have a unique CD-Key. I would personally just go to Walmart or something like that and find a new copy for about 20 dollars. I know its more money but you have it that day and you know for sure you can take it back if the CD-Key doesn't work.
If you guys do end up going and getting it......let me know so I can give you a link to the Steam download........then we can play. It really is one of those games that once you start.......you can't stop and you get addicted.

Basically what a CD-Key is....whenever you log onto steam...it checks for a unique CD-Key. Without one of these it won't let you onto the servers. So if you find one off the net....chances are a thousand other people have them making them useless because the CD-Key is only good for 3-5 different machines I believe. I have had the same key running on 3 diff. machines.......mine, my bros, and a friends........but I think they are cutting down on that even because my bro can't use it anymore but my buddy still can. Best bet is to just get your own key and not share it with anyone.

If Half-Life is anything to go by, you'll need to download a 100Mb patch to play online...Regards,

Yes you will have to download the Steam install once you install CS......its a few hundred mb I believe but that is nothing when you get it from a fast site. Well worth the short wait.

I play Day of Defeat... much more entertaining in my humble opinion.
This is a Half-Life mod as well, same as Counter-Strike. You can either buy half-life, counter-strike or day of defeat from a store in a box or you can just download one and get the rest for free (via a download) from Steam, valves content delivery service.
www.steampowered.com
I admin on a Day of Defeat server. Anyone wanna play, check out www.tanelorn.org.uk or connect to gs1.tanelorn.org.uk:27015 -
WOW, this topic really came alive in a week that I was out. Hatz you play 1.6? I still play 1.5. I was going to install 1.6 but then it said something about a new steam system. I don't understand what it is and is there advantage to it?
Also lets set a date to when we'll play. Anyone here got their own dedicated server? Or we one of us can a game or we could all join some server. -
Well, 1.6 is just an update but on a new platform. They aren't on the WON servers anymore. It has a few new weapons in it. Other than that game play is a little smoother it seems. I would def. go and upgrade. I know there are still 1.5 servers out there but there are alot more 1.6 servers so you might as well.
Plus every wednesday, they automatically update the 1.6 for you. Just little bug fixes and what not.........so it is good they are continually doing support for it. Some maps are a little smoother and better textured as well.
So I would go ahead and download it if I was you.......its really not bad at all.
As far as a server goes.......depending on how many people play from here......whoever has the fastest connection could probably run a server from their computer as they play. I am in Colorado and I used to run a server off of my cable modem.........only about 6-7 people were playing and everyone usually had a ping of 100 or so........I know thats not great but its not horrible either. We just need to find out who has the fastest upload rate I guess.
Or we can just find a fast server and start playing there from now on.........where is everyone located so we can find one close to all of us.
Colorado here.
