Hi all - had occasion recently to watch my back-up of "Signs" rather than the original, and found that English subs appeared automatically. I then checked some other backups I'd done and found the same there.

These backups have all been done over the last six months or so, and are all "movie-only" backups. I strip out all subs apart from English (very handy for late night viewings of action films!).

I rip with DVD Decrypter, and re-author with DVD Shrink, using whatever the latest version has been at the time, and burn with Nero.

Any ideas, guys? I know I can just turn subs off, but in future I'd like the film to display without subs as standard.

    Cheers,

    Wc

this has been a known bug with dvd shrink. Try using the newest version from their website.

And, while it may be annoying, it is easy enough to turn them off once the movie starts.

There is an option to show or hide substreams of insignificant length. Make sure this is configured correctly. Substreams are only a few megabites and may not even show in the stream list DVD Shrink gives unless this option is configured correctly.
This is not a bug it simply the way the program works.

Thanks for the replies, guys - I'll taker a longer look at Shrink next time I use it, and try to ensure it's configured for my needs.
