copy dvd to hard drive for watching on my computer

I need help figuring out how to copy a dvd to my computer so that I can watch it later and also cut out pieces of the video and use it in pinnacle studio 8 for making my own video. The dvd that I want to copy does not have any encryption on it. Thank you very much

either copy the entire contents of the dvd(R) to your hard drive or rip with DVD Decrypter (even though there is no encryption on disc) and point a player (powerDVD, etc.) to the VIDEO_TS folder. play.
for the cutting out part try Shrink (save each segment as its own movie).

I bet thare must be guides here how to extract MPEG from IFO files.... try "GUIDES" section on the left or search.
