I have the same drive and it burns no problem at 4x. I imagine it depends on the media you use and what speed that is rated at. Check what it says on the disk.

  3. I wonder that too, I am buring first DVD using prodisc and it took over 1 hour to burn one disc for about 180 minutes. How fast it suppose to burn?

  4. it depends on the disc you're using. if its rated to burn @ 4x & your firmware has identified that the media id of the disc to burn it that quickly, then it will..

you may consider flashing your drive with hacked firmware.. rpc1.org, in the forums there is a thread about it.

I just got the same drive and it burns 4X DVD+R's at 6X. I've had it
about a week and have burned quite a few discs at 2.4X, 6X, and 8X and
I've had no problems at all.
