  1. Can anyone help please?

Have got some old video's I have recorded onto dvd ram on my Panny E-30 but when I try to transfer it across to DVD-r by TMPGEncDvdAuthor it plays ok for about a minute then the screen squashs up by half & one side you have got all the pic playing & the other the is just a blank screen!
Have converted other video tapes acroos & they have been fine it just seems to be this certain video tape. Have also tried it with DVD Lab & same thing.

Thanks for your help in advance

Ahhh, variable hybrid VBR raises its head again.
In your menu in the picture settings will be an option called vbr which is, in all likelyhood, set to variable. Change this to fixed.

The problem has cropped up here before and it is down to the panny trying to keep the bitrate acceptable for the picture being encoded. If the bitrate can't be raised high enough for a full resolution picture (704x576-PAL or 704 x 480-NTSC) it will drop the resolution to 352x576-PAL or 352x288 in the middle of the mpeg stream. This totally throws most authoring packages.

If you can, re-record after changing this flag to fixed and you should be ok. If not you may have to use dvd moviealbum/export (run a search for my other post for more information) to split up the mpeg into full and half resolution chunks then re-encode the parts to match, (I'd suggest taking the full resolution down to half resolution rather than trying to enlarge the half resolution sections), then join the clips in something like mpeg2vcr (womble) and then re-author.

    Hope that helps
