  1. I just recently purchased a NEC ND-2500A from newegg at a great price. The downside was no cables or driver. Having no cables is not an issue, however the driver missing is, I have read several reports of people installing this drive in the same manner in which I am to have XP build a driver that only recognizes it as a cd rom drive. Can anyone please point me in the proper direction. I have tried NEC's site to no avail.

  3. DVD drives don't come with drivers.

all that matters is if you can burn dvd content. Who cares if it shows your drive as a cd drive?? Same thing with your monitor. The drivers that came with my KDS monitor only correctly identified it as a KDS monitor instead of a generic one.

No drivers required for any optical drives AFAIK. Thats what Plug And Play was developed for. Plug it in and it works.
    If in doubt, Google it.
