I tried this template three times using nero 5.5.4.
The point is that only 50 seconds of each song are actually played on my philips dvd player (have 701 and 720. I follow the recomendations by tigerwolf and use VCD not compliant on Nero. The song is played 50 sec and then jumps to the next one to again play 50 sec...Can anybody give me a hint about this, what im doing wrong?

The funny thing I notice is that only the last song is played completely. Also for the record, the VCD played flawlessly on the PC using powerdvd, but you know that is not the purpose, the big deal is to play 6 hours of music on the stand alone dvd plater....please help..!!!

    best regards

  2. Try this:

Make the video CBR at 64kbs, not VBR.
This way you have a constant "black" channel or "filler" of a low video bitrate. Lower bit rates made my audio jump and skip.

So the lowest I tried was 64kbs and it works fine.

I have been doing this now for over 6 months, so this templates are nothing new.

I have a Pioneer 333 and I am getting over 3 hours of music
    perfectly like this.

    Have fun!.

  4. You can actually make VCDs that are fully compliant and still have about 6 hours of audio.

You will have to author the MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio files as segment items. This can be done with both VCDImager and VCD Toolkit.

    Michael:

Tried VCDTK and the dvd says disc error. What I noticed though is that the file size for 6 songs (37 mb total before the conversion to vcd) and one simple menu increases up to 240 mb!!!...so i dont know if im doing something wrong but still not any success trying to build 6 hours VCD with menu to play on DVD player.

I checked and the mmd files are not that big so i dont quite ubderstand why the size increases that way.

I used mp2 files and converted using vcdmux....any hints or tips?

    best regards

    Hector

well just in case if somebody read this message i just found the error. The thing is that white book requires at least one video file on the mpeg folder, I did it and now i have a VCD created with toolkit working flawlessly with 5 hours of music and the lyrics on the screen...

Great little tip there by ticos2000, for anybody thinking of doing the same thing.

  8. If you use Tigerwolf template you MUST encode both video and audio at the same time.
If you encode the mp2 audio and then try to mux the multiplexer will not put the video stream, or even, will ignore the audio stream.

Using both video and audio encoding with the template, NERO accepts the files has standard VCD mpeg-1 files and should work on any DVD player.

  9. No, it will not work in any DVD player and I'm sure that it will not work in many. This is deep in the realms of XVCD or "non-compliant" VCD and no player is guranteed to play it.

VCD2.0 specs already has the provisions to create a FULLY compliant VCD that can contain up to 6 hours or more of audio. You will have to use VCD Toolkit to do it.
