  1. I'm a newbie to DVD writing and new to this forum, so I beg your forgiveness if I appear dumb. Got to start somewhere. I have LG GSA-4040B (ver. 302)writer and been burning DVD's with DVDXCopy Xpress (3.2.5). The most successful burn I have attained are with Maxell DVD+RW. But even this only plays on the LG burner, not my other computer DVD player nor any of my two TV DVD players. Failed with Emtec DVD-RW. Also tried Maxell DVD-R and only the video part is burned with no audio. Any new insight from anyone (especially owning this combination of hardware/software) would be great.

  2. Software\Media (Both?) does not match standalone player? What players have you tried on?

  3. I have a Toshiba DVD 16X IDE player. It's one of these:
    SD-M1402/SD-M1401/SD-M1502 or SD-M1612
The TV type DVD players are Panasonic DVD-RV30 and Grandview DVD-6013. I just found out that the Grandview player only plays -R and the Panasonic machine is even older so that explains it. Do you think it's because my stuff is too old?
Thanks for helping. I'll be going out for the day so wont be able to post a reply quickly. By the way, if I have a couple of +RW discs and -RW discs I have already recorded on and not playable, how can I erase them? I have B's Clip but I think that's only good for -RW, am I not right?

  4. Yes, I think it could be the problem, but I also think that DVDXCopy Xpress does not give the best compatibility (haven't tried it my self thoug, so can't really complain on the software).

As for the how to erease dvd-rw\+rw question I'd guess it is able to erease both +\-, because the program followed with my multiburner (Havent tried to erease either so can't actually say that for sure).

look @ 5-7, it says something about erasing cd-rw\dvd+rw\dvd-rw...

Here are some tutorials from bha's homesite... take a look and see if you can find an article on how to erease... It should not be to hard btw [/url]

  5. Thanks for the responses. I had been using previous firmware. Finally, with the latest firmware upgrades, I can confirm that it now burns perfectly with Maxell DVD-R. Can play perfectly in both Computer burner and player as well as both home TV DVD players. However now unable to burn CSS-encoded movies. I hear of this software called DVD Decrypter. Is that the best one? Is it easy to figure out?

  6. Yes, DVDDecrypter is really easy to figure out, but if it's a DVD-9 you should look at DVDShrink it you look for a simple solution.

It's always nice to know that peoples problems get solved

  7. Thanks for your responses. I will try DVDDecrypter out, not that I have it yet, but I'll search for it. By the way, if anyone else is reading this, please, if you have the original firmware of DVDXCopy Xpress or any other DVDXCopy software, do NOT upgrade because the creators of the software lost a court battle and the upgrade is written so that you cannot burn encrypted DVD's. I was backing up my favorite movies which I did not want damaged and none worked with the new free upgrade (ver 3.2.5). I promptly went back to ver 3.2.1 which came in the box and I've never had problems since. The reason why I originally had all those problems was with the old firmware of my DVD Writer, that's all. Problem solved and I'm grateful for your responses.
