  1. Have a short trip to the US coming up taking in St Louis (MO) and New York, won't have a lot of spare time but wouldn't mind snapping up some bargains if I can (God bless the strong £).

Can anyone recommend any good hardware retailers (particularly after graphics cards, hard drives etc) in either location. Can travel out from the centre a bit in St Louis bt am restricted to Manhatten in New York

    Many thanks

  2. I've never found any good retailers, always buy online, They ususally have free overnight shipping too. www.computergeeks.com and www.newegg.com are where I buy from. Just have it mailed to your hotel room or wherever your staying

  3. I would second 808smokey's suggestion. Buy some things from www.newegg.com and mail them to your hotel (just tell the hotel you are expecting them). They have fantastic deals and I have never found better prices in any retailer. And since they do not ship overseas, it is your change to buy from them.

  4. Dear God do NOT buy electronics in Manhatten. Midtowns chaulk full of 30 square foot shops that sell virtually every camera/ camcorder/ computer/ accessories known to man. Problem is, some of these stores are shady and NEVER give you the best deal. This is all different if you happen to find a Best Buy / Circuit City.

  5. Thanks chaps - hadn't considered the option of online ordering and hotel delivery - looks like my best bet. Cheers for all the advice above.

Ditto that, a good warning. Although Best Buy and CC are a bit expensive IMO. OfficeMax sometimes has great deals (eg 80GB WD for TWENTY DOLLARS after rebates)... Oh yes, make sure you have someone in the US to receive the rebates that are on many good deals.
