Hi there
I created my first home movie dvd last week![]()
And i am fairly happy with most of it but the audio is not the greatest.
So far i am taking my downloaded dv from my camcorder and editing it in
magix movie edit pro and then converting the exported avi in tmpgnc.
I have read that tmpgnc is not the greatest program for encoding audio
but i am struggling to find any clear awnsers on what to do.
I tried to convert to ac3 using besweet but i keep getting this error
Error 85: support for ac3enc.dll had been removed due it its suckness!
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !
Any help would be great![]()
I just feel like I am going in circles now trying to find any awnsers .

Hi familyguy,
I've recently achieved pretty much exactly what you want to do (including splitting my audio out and encoding that separately, not in TMPGEnc) - my video was 36 mins. Check out this link:

It's not a definitive guide and I'm not claiming it's the best way, but it's the steps I took to get results I was happy with. I have since edited it as I've learnt more (they're in there too).
Error 85: support for ac3enc.dll had been removed due it its suckness! Quiting...
BUt, in the link above, I reference ffmpeggui - it uses the same encoding algorithm (so the issues may occur with AC3) but it's a hell of a lot easier to install and use. It also does MP2 which, if you're in PAL land, is part of the DVD audio spec (i.e. it should be OK). If you're in NTSC land, it will probably be OK (80% likely?).
If your video is ever longer than about 100mins, you'll need to calculate the bitrate to ensure the finished article will still fit a single DVD (if that's what you want to do). See the DVDRHelp Bitrate Calculator, and there's others in the Tools section.
Hope that helps. Good luck...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
