  1. Hi, Can anyone tell me if the Panasonic E80H is easy to use? What I'm looking to do is, Record from TV, VHS to DVD and DVD to DVD using my dvd player. I just returned the Philips R75 back to best Buy. I had nothing but troubles with it. Any help or sugestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. I guess the E-80's ease-of-use is a matter of opinion, but I didn't find it difficult. I was recording off cable an hour after I opened the box. The manual isn't always clear--you'll find much better info here. Maybe after a week or 2 of playing with it and reading info on the boards, I was all set. I love the Hard Drive and am very happy with mine!!

You won't be able to copy most commercial DVD's (vhs too, I assume) from another DVD player, due to the copy protection schemes.

  3. Thank you for that info. I'll have my work cut for me then.

From what I have read, the Denon has a full frame TBC built in which is why you aren't having any issues with copy protection.....

Redtop, I've had my E80 for about 2 moths now and I'm very happy with it. It is EASY to use and edit with. The only thing I wish they added was a way to put thumbnail pics on the menus.

By the way, you can do the same thing as the Denon by buying an outboard TBC. (as mentioned in other threads...)

That is one reason, along with a DV input and -RW recording, that I am highly considering returning my E80 and waiting a month for Toshiba's hard disk recorder to come out.....my only worry being whether it's editing tools would be as robust as the Panasonic.
