  1. This may be a stupid question and there's probably an easy answer. I just can't seem to find it.

I've been making lots of DVD's of programs from TV via the PC. I just noticed that the left and right sides are cropped a little during playback on TV. When I view it on the PC it's fine. Does this mean that the encoding was proper and it's just an adjustment needed on my TV or DVD players?
I tried several DVD players and 2 TV's. They are all the same.

or did I not encode properly? I used Tmpgenc and used the wizard with the regular DVD NTSC template. I did not make any other changes. Was I suppose to change it to keep aspect ratio?

    Thanks,

  3. So that means there's no way around this?

No, that just means it's normal. You can resize and add borders to make it all fit on your particular TV screen, but that doesn't mean it will display the same on all TV screens, or retain a proper aspect ratio.

It's not. The only reason you would do this is if you wanted to view them on your computer screen.
