  1. Can someone explain what the difference is between dvd r+ and dvd r-.

    please make it in the simplest terms as possible

    How's this for simple:

    It's just two different formats, sort of like when there was Beta and VHS tapes (if you're old enough to remember). One type of disk can't be used in the other writer, although dual format writers are common now. Most newer DVD players will play both types.

    What's important is not the differences between the two formats, but what they're compatible with. If you intend to create or "back up" DVD's to play on a stand-alone player, it's important to know what formats it will play. While most accept both + and - disks, some of the older ones will not. I have two DVD players at home, and each accepts both formats. I gave my first DVD player to my brother, and it also accepts both.

    Still, you can't be sure until you've tried them out. There are plenty of resources on this and other sites to check this out with. Look at the links to the left and you'll find a lot to work with.....
