I have an ATI AIW 8500DV. Tried installing in 3 different PC's (all with different motherboards) and no other cards installed except the video card. After loading the most current drivers for this card (tried loading Windows 2000 and XP on all boxes and latest drivers from ATI for each OS), I get a conflict in device manager on ATI WDM AUDIO CROSSBAR and on ATI WDM TV TUNER. I load the drivers in the order that ATI recommends.
I've disabled the firewire port on the card using the dip switch. I had used this card in a PC previously with Windows 2000 and had no problems. I tried re-loading the OS on that PC and put this card back in, and get the same conflicts. I load the OS only, then the video drivers..THAT'S ALL, and I get the conflicts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Great! Some one else has an ATI 8500DV and has XP install problems. I have got mine working now (mostly, thats why I am here). First, get the cleaner/ removal tool from the web site. Make sure you remove all ATI progs with it. DO NOT RESTART UNTIL ALL ARE REMOVED. When using the utility it will pause between each uninstall, then it will request you restart, but don't. Then when you tell it you do not want to restart, it will take a second or two to find the next program to uninstall and start uninstalling it. Once it works its way all the way through all of your progs, restart. When it restarts, cancel all found new hardware prompts. Then try installing in the order suggested by the ATI site. This got mine working but not perfect yet. What version of media center are you using? I could not get everything working (DVD/TV display) until I purchased the $9.99 new CD so that I could use the latest version of the control center. I tried following the advice elsewhere on this forum that you do not need the new install CD for anything except the DVD playback but, that did not hold true for me. Have you tried running the system test from the control panel? It may give you a clue as to other issues to correct. Just a note though, the reason I am here is that that utility complains that my capture software is not installed but capture still works (mostly). Have not been able to get this fixed. Good Luck! BTW mine worked great with WIN ME.

ATI AIW 8500DV is the worst ATI card so far
ATI MMC 8.8 is the worst ATI MMC so far
You have my sympathy. They're a b!+ch to work with.
At least you can avoid 8.8 ... hard to avoid the card.
Good call on disabling the "DV" port.
It may have conflicts with onboard soundcard if that is the kind of card you have.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I've decided to try this card with ATI's software cause I may start to capture in Mpeg2 DVD. What are good settings to capture in mpeg? Also what are good settings to capture to AVI huffyuv codec with this card? Any suggestions? -
