  1. Anyone who can tell me why some of my DVD backups movies wont play as they supposed to on PS2. The have sound and pic. But no color.

Played in a stand alone player, there is no prob at all.

Could it be because when i rip them, i`m doing it in shrink with no region code ( Codefree )

  2. were all the 'rips' pal discs? most likely some are ntsc, and the the ps2 if I recall will output in 60hz mode, which, if your tv does not support it will show picture in black and white. It does not matter if the region is set to 0 or region free, it takes it info from the video encoding method i think. There is another issue if you go for an RGB scart lead to cure the problem, as if you do not have a colour fix (part of ps2 mod process) or an action replay/region x, the picture will be in colour, but will have a green overtint.

  3. Some (The most ) of my rips are PAL, but some comes from countries with NTSC.

If i run my rips in shrimk once more, and set the contry code to 2 ( The PAL code here ), do you then think this will kill the problem?
All the rips i make my self, is made in "Region free", but is made from PAL disc`s.

If no! Is there then another way to work around the problem, and get color on, without interfering with the PS2?

And bye the way... Thanks for your responce.

  4. If using DVDShrink set to a PAL mode doesn't work you might need to decrypt the movie to your hard drive and reconvert the movie using TMpeg into the correct resolution for PAL format. I'm not sure on this, but thought I might offer up the idea. Anyone else have thoughts on that idea?

  5. Hmm... I`ll try that then. B`cause quite a bit of my movies is aperently in NTSC format.

Just hoping that this precedure dosn`t mess up the quality of pic and sound.

Anyway... If anyone else have or think they have a solution to this, then speak up and share your brainstorms.

befre you go the add a region route make sure you really were region free this way:

Make sure your use the TOOLS in DECRYPTOR
and additionaly remove any region control enhancements not removed in the NORMAL DEFUALT RIPPING AND SHRINKING PROCESS

    like so

  7. Its nothing to do with the region.

    Heres an example.

I had a NTSC Region 1 disc, it wont play on my friends Region 2 PS2, so I made a copy and made it multi-region, it then played but because it was still NTSC it played in black and white, now nearly every other DVD player would convert the NTSC to PAL so there would be no problem, but the PS2 doesnt do this it just outputs the NTSC signal so unless u have a dual NTSC/PAL TV you are gonna have problems.

Of course you could make a DVD PAL to DVD NTSC copy but this is not the easist thing to do.

  8. No! I found that out. *G*

So from now on, i`ll just make sure, that if som folks want to see some of the movies at home, i don`t want to hear anything about the black and white VS color. *G* They have been told that some of the movies may not play in color if they dont have such a nice TV as mine. *G*

Anyway... Thanks all. Nice to hear from you, and lots of thanks for all your help.
