I am in the Corporate Video world and in a number of our facilities we show 3 - 5 minute video clips from VHS tapes. I master these programs on an AVID and dump to Beta-SP.

I would like to distribute these clips on VCD (the computers at the facilities don't yet have DVD drives but will in the future so it has to be MPEG1) The problem is some of these videos have a lot of motion in them and when I dump to VCD it will sometimes play back jerky during the high motion clips.

If money wasn't really a problem, is there a VCD record deck that would capture a Component video with audio in real time? It should play back at least at VHS quality full screen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Optibase makes an excellent mpeg1 encoding board. You can opt for one of the 200 Basic VBR boards that will give you mpeg1 (upto 3mbs) now, and ready for DVD when you need it.

Or the 100 series which is mpeg1 only.

Since your clips are short, you can use any encoding format you wish. Upto the hardware specs of the client PCs. Your IT manager can make sure the correct codecs and software players are installed, then include a simple autoplay.inf on the CD, or have the IT manager set autoplay functions correctly on each PC.

Or even a VOD system if your LAN/WAN is upto the task.

Thank you, I've already sent them an inquiry.

We have installed, in some of our locations, TargetVision a service that allows us to share information in a power point type format, live video feeds, as well as an autostart for a VCR. Another capability is to access a video file and autoplay it from the HDD, and that is the direction our folks want to go. The problem is right now I'm finding it hard to get even VHS quality to them on a CD.
