I have some .mpe files that I tried to burn into a VCD in Nero 6, but I can't play in my stand alone DVD player nor can I can play in my computer. When I tried to use PowerDVD to play the VCD, I only hear the sound and no picture. When I tried to import these .mpe files into Encore DVD, it said the File Could Not Be Imported, the file format is not supported. So my question is how do I get these .mpe files to work? My second question is, if I can't get it work, is there a converting tool that I can use to convert these .mpe files to .avi files so I can edit?

    Many thanks for any suggestion.

Where did these .mpe files come from? are you sure they arn't mpeg or mpg.

That stuff aside...if you can't play it ...you are probly missing the necessary codec needed for the file. Do a google search for MovieID...its a little prog that you drop file into and it spits out info about it...IE: codec, length bitrate ...ect.
Then you go find the necessary codec, install and your there.

Many thanks for your response. The .mpe files are from a video CD I ripped because the CD starts to go bad and I want to backup. I know that the file are good because I was able to open it up in Windows Media player or PowerDVD and play it. I can also just rename the .mpe to .mpg and it will play fine under Windows Media player and PowerDVD too. What I can't do is burned into VCD again and watch it on my stand alone dvd player.
