Hey guys
Ok Iv'e just wasted 2 dvd-r's, I need some help. I put the dvd into the drive, use smart ripper and pull of the info into a folder I named after the thing Im backing-up. Then I use dvd2one to compress it into a folder Iv'e named VIDEO_TS (all in captials right?) then I TRIED CopytoDVD and Nero using guides I found on the net....both of which didn't work![]()
Do these look right??
This is the contents of the folder that smart ripper made:
This is the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder that dvd2one made that I have TRIED to burn onto a blank dvd-r:
What am I doing wrong??
Any info would be great.
Cheers

First of all, get yourself an RW disk. Will save you money from repeated tests.
Now, once you have made a folder with the media files that make up the DVD, you must record them on DVD using proper settings.
Nero has a DVD project for DVD Video. It is critical to use this, as it ensures that the disk attributes as well as the sequence of files in the VIDEO_TS folder are correct.
Good luckThe more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -

I took your advice and got a dvd+rw and tried again today using copytodvd. It worked!! 2 questions now though.....can i now do a STRAIGHT EXACT copy of the dvd+rw on to a dvd-r and it will still work in a dvd player etc?? and 2nd question....on the PC dvd burner the movie plays BUT the sound is patchy and jumpy...on the ps2 it's fine, any idea why??
Cheers

Yes, you can copy the DVD+RW on a -R/+R using just Nero DVD Copy menu. The +RW disk is not protected in any way, so Nero will copy it without need for DVD decrypter or whatever.
About the sound, can't really tell why audio is "patchy" and "jumpy". It shouldn't. On the other hand, audio has these kind of problems when the CPU is over stressed with tasks running and the player tries to keep up. Are you doing anything else while playing back?
Another possibility is bad drivers or bad settings in audio playback. To find out what's happening, try the original DVD, any original DVD, to play on the PC. If you have the same problem, look into the audio drivers and audio setup. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -

Now I installed this burner from our old pc to the new one about a week ago and up till a day or two ago it played everything fine. Weird thing is with AUDIO cd's the first 7 secs is patchy and the dvd rom seems to be spinning it loudly...then it plays fine + quietens down.....this happens when I go from track to track as wellThe cd-writer drive below it plays the same music cd's fine so it must be something with the dvd-writer.
Any ideas??
Cheers
