Does anyone have a list of 5 or 6 popular DVD authoring software that will not re-encode the MPG?

All I want to do is take a MPG compliant file, add a title menu, create chapters, and then create the DVD VIDEO_TS folder without re-encoding the entire MPG video. I'm not even going to be using transitions.

I think these will do the smart-encoding:
    -TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4
    -Womble MPEG Video Wizard

    Any others?

Generally, advanced authoring tools don't re-encode if the MPEG-2 file is DVD compliant and will fit the designated disc size. But oftentimes those software programs will give you the option to re-encode, if there is some need.

Look at DVD-Lab Pro, GUI for DVDAuthor, DVDIt Pro, or many of the other tools found here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/authoring-dvd

EDIT: Oh gee, I didn't see Freebird73717's post. I'm redundant.

  4. TMPGEncDVDAuthor used to be popular, but I don't do DVDs much any more, so other than that I dunno. :P

For cheapskates, there is some freeware which will definitely not re-encode:

    DVDAuthorGUI
    DVDStyler

    and others.

Most of the members here will use either High-end ($) NLE editing/authoring programs, (the pro and semi-pro members), or they are hobbyists that don't mind doing things manually, which means all the freeware stuff. I'm in the latter group.

Seriously though, if as you say the file is compliant you should be able to find an option not to re-encode, no matter what the program. Either that or the files are not compliant, will not fit the allotted size, whatever.

    [EDIT] I'm doubly redundant.
