  1. OK, first off, I just want to let you all know that I did do a search for what I'm about to ask, but the results didn't help me too much (probably because I don't understand too much about this stuff).

Anyway, here's the deal, and any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated....

I have .bin file #1 and associated .cue file #1 (727 MB total)
I also have .bin file #2 and associated .cue file #2 (709 MB total)

This was the note that was provided with these video files....

"Every once in a while we will get a VCD that comes with really cool menus. In order to keep these menus intact and working the VCDs will be available as .cue/.bin files. Those folks who watch their VCDs on stand alone DVD players will understand the importance of menus.

Burning this VCD using Nero: Open Nero, cancel the wizard or whatever pops up, go to "file" > "burn image" and locate the files. You will only see the .cue file. Click on it and burn away. Make sure you choose the disc-at-once option. It's that easy."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, so the question is, can I burn both of these videos to a single DVD disk and watch it on my DVD player. If so, how do I do this....and bear with me....I seriously know nothing about this stuff.....I mean nothing. I'm using Nero 6.0.3.2 and I really kind of need step by step instructions....or close to it. Is it even possible to burn both of these to DVD and have them both work. If both sets of files have their own respective menus, how would I be able to view them both....so confusing. I'm not even sure these files are in the correct format to burn onto a DVD, but from the note above it seems like they are.

One of the earlier posts said to drag and drop the .cue files in Nero....I did that but I don't know what's going on.....do I not drag and drop the bin files......

can anybody help or do I have to burn two separate VCDs on regular CD-Rs?

You have two CD images, therefore you will need to burn them onto 2 CD's. If you want to extract the mpegs and burn to DVD that's another matter, though possible.

  3. OK, is there freeware that will allow me to do this?

Also, once I have the mpegs, do those get burned directly to DVD. I guess what I'm asking is what format does the file have to be in for me to burn it to a DVD and then watch it on thr player?

Isobuster can extract the mpegs for you and SVCD2DVD can create the proper DVD structure. Here's a guide for you to refer to. I haven't attempted this project yet so I probably won't be much help to you. However if you post your questions here there are plenty of insightful people that would be glad to help you out. Good luck.

  5. thanks teegee, everything you told me was helpful, but you wouldn't happen to know if there's any freeware out there that's similar to SVCD2DVD, would you?

  7. huh?

were you pointing out the TMPG tool? Also, will that work with bin and cue files or do I need to convert them to mpeg first (and is that what ISOBuster is for).....wow....

sorry.....there are just so many different tools, it's all confusing to me.

  8. Use ISOBuster to get the mpegs out of the .bin files.
    Use TMPGEnc to Merge them.
DVD patcher to fool the player into accepting mpeg2's as dvd, or re-encode the whole thing in TMPGEnc/Canopus/DVD2SVCD/CCE/etc.
    Burn it.

Extract the mpeg and check the properties with avicodec.

Another way to tell is by opening up the .cue file with ISObuster. You will see a group of folders but one of them will either be a "VCD" folder or an "SVCD" folder.

  12. cool, thanks....

well, i got most of the way through the process but BeSweet doesn't seem to be working for me....here's the message I'm getting in the log file....

    BeSweet v1.5b25 by DSPguru.
    --------------------------
    Using hip.dll v1.19 by Myers Carpenter <myers@users.sf.net>
    Using Shibatch.dll v0.24 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Error 80: Error getting tooLame.dll interfaces
    Quiting...
    [00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

    Logging ends : 02/14/04 , 01:36:42.

does anyone know what this means or what I might be doing wrong...I followed all the directions. It says I can convert the mp2 to wav using winamp but I don't know how to do that in my version of winamp (3.0d). By the way, if I don't do this BeSweet step, then would the audio not work on the DVD player?

  13. Check the mpeg in Avicodec. If it's already 48khz, then you don't need to do this step.
If you DO need to resample audio, check these out: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/audio_tools/ssrc.cfm
