.dv to m2v conversion (formac)

Hi Folks,

I am experiencing a .DV to mpeg2 conversion problem and am hoping someone can shed some light onto the issue.

I am using formac's studio tvr to capture video. When I convert it to a m2v file then play it with quick time it freezes on a frame after 20 minutes or so.

The complete m2v file appear to all be there considering that it is 4.5 gig big..but like I said it hangs up.


Currrently I have about 22 gigs of hard drive and am converting a 30 gig movie to an appr 4.5 gig m2v file.
I have selected "DVD (NTSC) Normal" for video encoding
the aspect ratio selected is 4:3 (PAL/NTSC)
Video= NTSC
Bit rate = 5.4 Mbps
Size = 720 X 480
and the encoding speed is medium quality.

Any thoughts?

Hi, I cant answer you question but I use the same hardware to capture .dv content too. How do you view the m2v? I have QT Pro 6 and I cant view an m2v . . . Thanks
