  1. I posted this on Software last night but no response....
    so help please

I am having a royal pain in the butt trying to play some OGM files. I have tried to follow the guidelines set up, installed all the components required (at least I think I have)

I double click on an ogm file and it will start to play (I am currently using COre media player, but have also tried and had the same problem with windows media player, and BSplay.

The video will start but then stops. I can hear the audio continuing to run, and will make changes if I convert it between english and japanese. But the picture always stops within 8 seconds of starting and just freezes.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing or doing wrong here???

Try Media Player Classic, and by that I don't mean the one in your Windows Media Player directory. MPC has played damned near everything I've thrown at it.

  3. I will try that when I get home.
The weird thing when I look in G-spot it says I am missing an audio codec, even though the audio plays just fine, and it will rendoer just fine as well.

As stated above - also added the codecs in case you need them

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=220#comments MPClassic

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=466#comments Ogg Codec
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=525#comments Ogg ACM Audio

On my Ogg conversion to Mpg - I usually must make a TMPG project file - run that through Vfapi converter - frameserve to CCE through avisynth

Just an example that you may need to take several steps to accomplish your goal.

  5. Check for the proper audio/video codecs and filters that should be installed.

    XviD (December 2003 or later)
    OggDS filter

    Right?

  6. Spidey, ty, I installed everything you linked to, still doesn't work, locks up in windows classic as well.

Pete, How do I check to see if I have everything needed installed. I looked using G-spot and it said I didn't have an audio codec, but its the video I am having problems with. And when I render it using G-spot it sauys it works just fine.

Any other suggestions. I feel I am missing or overlooking something simple here?

  7. Use "sysenum.exe" program that comes with Graphedit to show you all video/audio codecs and filters that are installed. Look for Vorbis, Ogg, XviD and DivX--they should all be shown. (see below.)

The movie file may be slightly corrupted or out of sync. Use VirtualDubMod to open the file and save/demultiplex the audio as a new file, then delete the audio stream from the 'Streams -> Stream list' and resave the video a new file. Remultiplex the two audio/video files together with OggMux (OGMMux?) or VirtualDubMod.

    Yeah! Pictures are snazzy!
