Box of 5 in jewel cases $7.99CAD + tax per box. Some people seem to have problems with these discs but not me. Bought 9 packs (last in the store) since their normal price is $14.99 per 5 pack. Nice deal if you can find them...

  2. Hi oldfart13,
I had Memorex (CMC discs) and I had errors wth the discs. I recorded the discs on my Pioneer A04 machine, and they played fine. But when I played it on my home machine (DV-434) the disc would NOT play in spots and even locked up the dvd player. Now I do have a pack of 2X disc and the ONE disc I burned played o.k. So be carefull if they don't play.

  3. I can't use CMC DVD-R's either - far too tempramental in my standalone and CDSpeed has a fit with them occasionally too. Far too inconsistent for my liking... would be loathed to touch them at a gift.

From what I've seen on various forums some people want to be able to burn these using hacked firmware or the new 8X burners and expect them to be okay. I don't use those methods and generally don't burn to the end of the disc. Thus, no problems on either my Pioneer A05 or my Panasonic E80. Also, no problems playing them back in a variety of players. The ones I did a few months back still play flawlessly if they fit my burning limitations. I normally use Maxell yellow top 4X DVD-R but these were too good a deal to pass up...

A slightly better deal is at Best Buy Canada, for they're 10 pack of Memorex. If you bring Futureshop the BB flyer. They'll discount two 5 packs even further below the BB sale price.
