I just bkup my copy of Underworld DVD using DVD shrink. The prob I have is after I start the movie when the disclaimer for comentaries are shown, it loops this disclalimer over and over. I can get pass it by pressing menu, but why is this happening. the next chapter button does nada nor the fastforward. Hum....I use custom ratio to reduce the menu's to the max and the xtra's also so to free up as much space as possible for the movie part. No biggie since I also did a movie only bkup (really like Kate Beckinsale in this role) and it plays fine. Just curious as why this is happening.

If you did a movie only, you wouldn't have any disclaimers. When doing a movie only in DVDshrink, you should use re-author and drag the movie only to the re-author window. If you place anything else in the re-author window (other than the movie) it will not run properly. This is, most likely, your issue. Try doing a re-author with only the movie. Do not re-author the menus or extras. Otherwise, if you want to keep these (menus and extras) you must do it as a backup.

Just to clarify. I did two copies, one with everything and the other movie only. Its the complete copy that has the prob.

  4. Something similar happens to my backup of the Phantom Menace. I used dvd shrink 3.1.4, and when i tried to jump the 20 century fox logo to the next chapter, make a loop and back again to show the logo, but if i let play passes with no problem. So, back to the dvd shrink 3.05 beta for a while, until i can understand why thats happening.

  5. I think Underworld is a Columbia-Tristar film.. If so, read this thread and it should solve your backup problems:

I noticed that too when trying to burn Underworld with Intervideo dvd copy. InstantCopy 8 was unable to backup even when using the main movie only feature.

Man I just luv this board...YES Underworld is a Col-tri film. I going to see tonite and redo and keep the french. I think when I did an earlier copy i did everything and it work fined so it must be that. I now remove a lot of things I deem not required...so much for thinking one is knowledgeable. Thanks for the link. I did a search but it was on Underworld and not looping

resaon I'd made so many bkups of this film is that i do it for any film I really like and have them near the DVD players so I dont have to look for them I have 4 video setups so its easier to make bklups then trying to find the orginal and moving it from room to room. Did I mention I am lazy....

I had this same problem with both "Underworld" and "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" using DVDShrink 3.1.4. AND Nero Recode (which looks like a clone of DVDShrink to me anyway). Interestingly, if you use DVDShrink 3.0b5, the "looping" will not occur even if you remove the French subs.

I also see that a new version of DVDShrink (3.1.5b5) was released today. Anybody know (or tried it) if the looping problem still is an issue with this version??

  10. The same problem here too. I was right. All Col Tristar movies of mine loop on disclaimer so I just pressed the menu button to bypass this. Anyway, I'll try that link. Thanks.

What I encounter in this movie ..no audio some VOBs if I wanted to split into to two discs. The main movie is these unusual larger than one 4.3G disc. It has approx. 4.9G with main menu with movie.

DVDShrink works fine but then lose a lot of video quality.

The alternate sound tracks was not the prob. I deleted the French sound track and the bkup is fine. It looks like u can not delete the subtitles/subpicture.
