  1. hi
i captured a film by ATI AIW Pro 128 with bitrate 3450000 (3x VCD) mpeg1 to gain a reasonable quality and then reduced bitrate by TMPGEnc to VCD.
the problem is that video and audio get out of sync. when i played the original mpg file in mplayer2 it found rendered video frames 24.98 per second. i think this is the cause of the problem. the rendered audio is accurately 44100Hz.
what can i do with the existing mpg file? remember that i can't capture the film again. so please don't give me advice about how to avoid frame lost.
    thanx

Just re-encode the clip at the proper resolution and framerate you want with tmpgenc,i tried a clip at the same spec as yours and it turned out ok when i re-encoded it.you might have to stretch or shrink the audio afterwards or shift the start time with a sound editor.

  4. hi
    thanks vcdforme 4 ur suggestion!
john! i said "...and then reduced bitrate by TMPGEnc to VCD." what does it mean? i re-encoded it by TMPGEnc!
    and about the sound editor:
    1. what's ur suggestion? what sound editor i must use?
    2. how can i determine the amount of shrink/stretch and/or shift?
    3. why the audio must be victim while this is the lack of video? can i stretch video instead of shrinking audio?
    4. 24.98 is calculated by scanning about 4000 frames. this may not be uniform during the whole of the movie nor be accurate.
    5. what i need is a tool to fix the mpeg file out of not recognized frames and fill the blanks with appropriate frames. i need a tool to fix an .m1v file to accurately 25 fps.
i'm a programmer. i wish i would know the mpeg1 format. i would write a program to do everything i need. until then, is there such a tool (to convert .m1v 24.98 or anything else to another .m1v file with accurately 25fps)?
    thx

  5. rehi
i come again with new q's:

    6. i split the movie which TMPGEnc says that it has 167332 frames. then TMPGEnc says that the video only file (.m1v) has 167158 frames and the audio only file (.mp2) has 167309 frames. what does it mean?
i re-encode the movie by using TMPGEnc, VCD PAL settings. it produces an mpg file with 167332 frames which its video has 167332 frames and its audio has 167327 frames. one describes for me what is happening around!
    1. maybe the original mpg file has some frames which is not recognized by TMPGEnc and it removes them when it splits the movie? both video frames and audio frames?
    2. how the video file gets 167332 frames long while the original one has had only 167158 frames? maybe TMPGEnc doesn't omit unrecognized frames when re-encodes the movie while it does when splits it? if so why the audio file has lost 5 frames?
    3. what can i do to make the original video and audio files the same frames long?
