Don't install the new for the iomega "super" drive.
I did a fresh boot, killed all running processes and clicked on the firmware, it then said Cannot install, error code 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00. My computer locked up and I had to hard power off.
When it restarted (and it took AWHILE) the dvd drive registers as having the new firmware installed but is only recognized as a 2.4x in nero. I don't know if it still burns or not, but it will read.. I'll test here in a little while.

I got the same error without the system lockup. My drive still shows the old firmware. Iomega support's final answer was to try a different system.
2.4x would be correct if you were using a DVD+RW, right?
