  1. I wonder if it's possible to creat autoplay VCDs. I noticed that some DVDs when inserted to DVD-ROM, autoplays and ask if you want to install a player. Then it will play with the player. If there a way to do the same with VCD? On Win, it would be nice if it automatically launches Media Player and plays all the video clips...
    I'm finding a quick way for corporate training using VCD. Asking people to drop files from specific folder to Windows media player could be a support nighmare. Autoplay would make it easy for everyone.

    It took less than 3 minutes
    .... it is called 'www.google.com'

    To add auto run to your VCD, create and add a text document (make it read only) to your VCD's root directory named "AUTORUN.INI" with the following text in it

    [autorun]
    OPEN=c:\progra~1\window~1\mplayer2.exe /play mpegav\AVSEQ01.DAT

  4. Thanks for the info. It works but it's kind of limiting in that it assumes that mplayer2 is located on C:\ which is probably right 90% of the time. What if the user has a system that mplayer2 is located on d:\?

    I found the instruction of autorun VCD, SVCD on this site but it didn't work.
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/autorun.htm
    It has the following line which may mean it just search for mplayer2 on the system no matter where it is located.
    [autorun]
    open=start mplayer2.exe /play /close \MPEGAV\avseq01.dat

    When I double-click my VCD from the desktop, it displays:
    Windows cannot find start.exe
    This program is needed for opening files
    of type "File".

    So, it does not appear to be the right syntax, or the syntax does not work on Win2k.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

  5. I eventually created my own autorun with Director. I can control it to run fullscreen, put message on screen or create my own menu. More time-consuming but works fine. I hope the autorun.inf works though.
