I have about 30-40 tapes that were recorded on a vcr I no longer have. My Panasonic vcr plays them okay but sometimes has slight trouble tracking.

I already have the AVT-8710 TBC which I haven't used. Will putting the TBC between my vcr and the DVD recorder correct the problem? or do I need a better vcr?

TBC does not fix tracking errors. You need a better VCR. Sharp VHS VCRs are great at tracking difficult tapes.

which current Sharp VCR would you recommend?

also, is this normal that a tape played on a different vcr doesn't play as well as on the one it was recorded on?

    Absolutely normal.

Any SHARP tends to work well.

    wow!

Sharp's website doesn't even list current vcr models anymore

what I am finding for sale on websites look like they're remaining stock.

    interesting!

I have a SHARP from 1998 or so, and then a Admiral-branded SHARP from the same time. This was discussed in a recent thread.

I use it when my JVC's add errors or won't track.
