  1. I have a large collection of CD's that I'd like to backup to mp3. Am looking for information on a program(s) that will let me copy the track title when it rips to wave. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I will make a couple of assumptions here.

    1) These are audio CDs.
    2) By "...copy the track title...", you mean write the title of the track as the filename.

I like to use CDex for CD rips. It's simple, reads from CDDB, and *FREE*.

If this is not the case, my apologies.

  3. Thank you for the considerate reply. Your assumptions were correct, they are audio cd's and I was wanting to copy the name of the artist and song as the file name when ripping.
I almost didn't post this question because I didn't know if that information was imbedded in the cd or just on the cover. Everything I've tried has just put "Track-1", etc. I chanced showing my ignorance in the matter but at my age, ignorance is the least of my worries.
I'm going to try and find this program and hopefully, get it to work the way I would like for it to. Two obstacles but ones that can be overcome.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer and.... IF you also know of a program that will take file names of files (mp3's already archived) and batch rename them, that information would be greatly appreciated also.

    Respectfully,
    Tom

  4. In the audio cd's the names of the tracks are not included.

If you think to rip audio cd's to mp3's you have to give names all of the tracks while ripping.

As I know all the software used for audio ripping allows you to give names to the tracks as you desire.

You can try NeoAudio or Cdex (the same thing) or AudioCatalyst.

Or you can prefere to rip the tracks without names and then rename the mp3 files.

    Have fun with your music!

Actually the song names can be imbedded in an audio CD. Some CDs (usually labeled "CDtext"). Unfortunately, few players see the CDtext info. Mine does. Two of my players do in fact , my Sony portable and my Pioneer audio CD recorder.

That being said, I do not know of any software that rips the CDtext info. Maybe EAC (Exact Audio Copy) does.

But the next best thing is to rip the CD using either CDex or EAC while you are connected to the internet. You usually have to select an option such as "get song titles from CDDB database" or something like that.

  7. Exact Audio Copy will let you create CD-Text files from the info it gathers from CDDB.
