The time has come for me to look into upgrading my DVD setup.

I plan to invest a home theater system eventually, but for now I'd like to focus on the centerpiece, which will be the actual DVD player itself.

I need a player which can do the following.
Handle -R/+R/-RW/+RW
Must be Multi-Format I.E. Able to play PAL DVDs (The cheaper Apex models can, so why not the higher quality players?)
Built in 5.1 Dolby Digital Decoder.

I prefer to go with a reputable brand, for obvious reasons.

I've checked out the DVD player guide at dvdrhelp.com, it seems that most comments are from European consumers, where multi format DVD players are the norm.
There so many amazing PAL DVDs out there, I feel like I am missing out, not being able to view them on my TV.

Any help would greatly appreciated!
