I am relatively new to this DVD back up game but up till now had been having a fair degree of success. I am using DVD Backup to rip DVD2oneX to shrink and Toast Titanium to burn on a Powerbook. I have found however that some films persistantly 'stall' during the burning process when writing the lead out. Im pretty sure i've compressed enough as i've tried a few different output sizes from DVD2oneX. Most films copy fine using this method so i'm stuck for ideas. Two films i've had particular difficulty with are Jaws and Space Oddyssey. Don't know if thats relevant..... Thanks in advance for any ideas.

what type of dvdr's are you burning to brand wise?

cheap media is notorious for having bad disks in the batch
try a few more... if still remains get some $$ media to test the drive to make sure everything is still ok! -
Cheers. Tried several now though with the same result (also re-ripped and re-shrank.... meanwhile the drive (and the discs) continue to work fine for other films. Weird? Or is there a simple explanation?

1. which movie is it
2. have you tried different rippers
a. osex
b. dvdbackup
c. hades
perhaps the one you have not used will rip and the shrink will work
either way very odd -
Tried all 3 rippers, shrinking seems to work but burning doesn't (sticks at the 'writing lead out' stage). Films are Jaws and Space Odyssey. Some better discs might be the answer if not who knows....
