Ok, I just got a 2 part movie from a friend. He got it from a program.. i dont know which. But I have tried many times to encode it, but it says it will not encode it because there is always an error. Here are the original specs.
MPEG layer - 3,96 kBit/s , 48,000 Hz stereo
352x144, 20.000 frames/sec
62 kb/sec, unkown format
But the file is an AVI. So i tried about 3 different version of TMPG, but the current one that i mainly use is 2.0.....
Can someone help me PLEASE![]()

So you have a file with the extension *.avi that's MPEG encoded? Ok that sounds like a DivX file. Q: can you play it in media player? If not, then you need to install the correct DivX codec (try the krystal codec under the Tools section).
Also 20fps isn't a supported framerate (unless it's internally 24/30 or 60fields). What error do you get when you try to encode this film? -
Nope, the file is just a normal avi file and i want to change it into a MPEG format for a VCD, it says cannot open or unsupprted.
The Audio says that it is 62kb/sec which from what i know the lowest TMPG will accept is 64kb/sec
Also the framerate is only 20 which i dont understand. I have encoded at least 27 different movies and i have never seen anything more than 23 fps.
Windows Media Player 7.0 does play it and it doesnt need a codec. So... i just dont understand
Thanx for responding cause no on else will... vejita -
Your problem definately sounds codec related. TNMPEG uses several different plug-ins to open various file type and at least two of them do AVI. Probably the highest priority one does not support your AVI file. Try going to Options, Enviromental Setting, VFAPI Plugin and try juggling the priority of the various plug-ins (esp Direct Show Multimedia Plugin). To do so select the plug-in and right click on it and you will get an option to choose higher or lower priorirty.
