  1. Hi all,

I'm trying to use Nero recode for mp4 transcoding of videos I've recorded with my Hauppauge PVR250 (.mpg format). I'd like to do this without creating the entire DVD structure. Is this possible? Is there a way to convert mpg files with mp2 audio into vob files without any recoding?

    Thanks,
    wade

  2. If you want it to play as a DVD, then it must have the DVD structure.

If you are lucky, you might find a DVD player that can play MPG2 files directly, but other than that, you must author.

Demux mpg into it's primary streams. Then use IFOEDIT's "DVD author option to create the DVD file structure. You not actually encodeing anything, just createing the file structure, tales a few minutes. IFOEDIT makes no checks for DVD compliance so mpg stream should work. The directory it creates should open in Nero Recode. I've converted SVCD's to DVD this way and that works.
