Sony DVD Architect

I use Ulead Workshop 1.3 (w'o AC3) for authoring and burning my DVDs. I read positive comments about Sony's DVD Architect as high quality even though pricey.
Has anyone tried both software and have an opinion about the quality match-up? I appreciate your commments.

Haven't used DVD Workshop, but DVD Architect is, IMHO, a very good DVD authoring application, if lacking in some areas (it's good for what I do, and it is still a 1.0 product). The high price is due to the fact that DVD Architect is only available in a bundle with Vegas 4.0, Sony's professional video/audio editing application. It's quite pricy, and it's the best money I ever spent.

I'd have to agree with MJ, I have tried many authoring apps and DVDA is now my "go to" program. I make some top notch DVD menus with it and, once you're past the short(ish) learning curve, it's very intuitive.

Architect is very good; but it is picky about what sources it will accept.

1 - it does not accept elemental streams
2 - it will re-encode 352x480/576 to 720x480/576

I like TMPGenc DVD Author's ability to place different sizes on different tracks, without re-encoding.

I, like many others, are waiting to see what Sony does with DVD Architect 2.0. If they make like the Detroit Lions and fumble the ball all over the place , I'll probably make DVD Lab my permanent authoring app (actually, DVD Lab Pro, when Oscar finishes it). For now, though, 1.0 fills all of my needs, and Vegas 4.0 has certainly made me forget all about Pinnacle Bug-Fest 8... er, I mean, Studio 8.
