Well, now that I know the built in TBC on my JVC HR-S9900U doesn't correct the problem, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the Sima SCC Color Corrector fixes this issue. Anyone know from experience?

SIMA won't cut it. You need a full-on standalone digital TBC. The AVT 8710 costs $179 and works well. The roughly equivalent but more expensive Datavideo TBC 1000 costs $300 and also fixed Macrovision problems.
The latest version of the ATI PVR software contains Macrovision embedded inside it so MV can no longer be removed with a hack. You may want to go back to an earlier version of the ATI PVR software, on which MV can be defeated. -
I'd suggest your JVC TBC is not working properly.

I sure hope that's not the case. I think the TBC is working fine as it "cleans up" some of my older non-commercial VHS tapes quite nicely. I guess I need to try it out on some other commercial tapes in my family's library. It may be that our "Spy Kids" tape just happens to be problematic with the ATI.Originally Posted by lordsmurf
