  1. ...trying to download a codec? MPEG-2 files encoded with MP2 audio play, but when I try to play an MPEG-2 file with LPCM, Windows Media Player tries to find a codec for it...but then plays as normal. Is there a fix for this?

    TIA

  2. There is an option in Windows Media player to have it download the codecs automatically. Go in there and turn it off.

Not in WMP 6.4...what's weird is that the new computer tries to download a codec but the old one does not...so something was installed on the old computer to make it play without trying to download. I'm thinking it might have been the MPEG2 "Codec" https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=323#comments. I'll try that.
