  1. Hi there,

first of all I am a newbie here and also in making DVD video. I never
    did it before !!
I have read a lot of articles and right now I am little confusing, may
be is better to say that I have learn a lot on every software, but
there is not one simple guide how to make it.

I have understood the following steps:

    1) capture the video from a digital camcorder (this step I am able)
    2) editing the timeline on Premiere 6.5 or other (this also I am able to do)
    3) exporting the video:
    I have two opportunity:
    a) using a digital tape like miniDV or
    b) encoding the project (work area) with MPEGEnc or other.

Well, from this step I am blocked and I don't understand why I can't
realize my DVD. For you information I don't like the authoring on
video, just put the dvd on the player and going to view the movie on
    the TV. That's all.
But I am quite sure that there is somthing wrong in what I am to point
at. I have tried to use Nero 6, but the files that the MPEGEnc of
premiere makes are not right for Nero. There are two folder VIDEO_TV
and AUDIO_TV, but MPEGEnc. make two diferent files: one is video, but
the other is quite audio, but not recognized from nero.

Please can anyone help what is wrong ????

    Thank

    Paolo

I would recommend visiting http://dvd-hq.info and then click on Guides and read the article on Frame Serving. You should also read the article on that site devoted to compression. Both articles describe in detail how to use TMPGenc Plus. Once you've encoded a MPEG-2 file by following the frameserving article, you'll be able to load that file (video only) and your separate audio file (that you can export from Premiere's timeline) into TMPGenc DVD Author. For ideas about the optimum bitrates to use for your video, follow the Compression article and also use the bitrate calculator on that website under Utilities.

  3. Thank you for your answer. It has been very interesting and has shown me how the true is realy near by me.
Well, I have Premiere 6.5 and it has also Adobe MPEG Ecoder (AME) included.
At this time I should save my work area, my project, with AME and then use a Tmegenc DVD Author to get the file necessary to make my first DVD ?
Second question: working with my project I have many clips that togheter makes a big file of my project, something like 10,9Gb, must I save in one file encoded in MPEG ?

Thank for use time spended for me.

I had forgotten to mention the built-in MPEG encoder in Premiere 6.5. You should be able to export your timeline through the encoder and produce a file or files for TMPGenc DVD Author. I believe that Adobe's built-in encoder (Main Concept) can produce both elementary streams (a MPEG-2 video file and a LPCM Wave file) or a program stream (a MPG file with both the audio and video). I'm also fairly sure that TMPGenc can handle both elementary streams and program streams. Then you can author your DVD.

I'm not sure what you mean by your second question, but it sounds like you are indicating that your source video files, perhaps DV AVI files, total about 11 GB. Of course, those files need to be encoded to MPEG-2 format, but it is entirely up to you whether those files form separate movies (which can be authored on one DVD) or they combine (through the use of Premiere) to form one movie.

  5. If you have nero 6, you can use that to mix the dvd video and audio together, and burn the dvd. No ned for tmpgenc dvd author, although it is quite easy ot use.
