  1. I'm a major noob and need some advice. I am using DVD2SVCD to convert an AVI file to DVD, but it seems like I am missing a piece of software called SONIC SCENARIST. Is there somewhere I can find this, or is there an easier way to make the conversion. I have TMPGEnc installed already, and combined the 2 AVI files I started with to 1 using VirtualDub. I will be using Nero 6 for the burn to a DVD+R. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  2. I don't use DVD2SVCD to make DVD's -- but here is something to try ...

On DVD2SVCD, under the CD IMAGES tab -- select DON'T DO IMAGES. You should then be able to use Nero to create the DVD by dragging the VOB's, BUP's and IFO files (probably in the DVD2SVCD\MOVIE folder) to the VIDEO.TS folder in Nero and burning.

Worth a try to a DVD-RW for testing.

  3. no, changing to the no cd images doesn't do any good - it still won't allow me to "continue" and complete the conversion, tried that already.

if you don't used DVD2SVCD, what do you use? after getting my dvd burner i realized that this is a little more complicated than burning cds, but i have used Nero 6 to copy a DVD-R already with success on first try, so i am getting the hang of it, but i'm at an impass on this conversion stuff. thanks!

  4. Ummm ... 2 things

    1. I don't have DVD burner so I do not actually use anything for AVI->DVD.

    2. I re-read your post and realized you are using TMPGEnc. I use CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder).

However -- I use DVD2SVCD quite a bit and feel pretty comfortable with it. Using CCE as my encoder, I setup an AVI->DVD conversion with DON'T DO IMAGES selected and it ran fine with the end result being was a DVD compliant MPEG2 file. The the file is name is bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg and is contained in the MOVIES directory.

I also have TMPGEnc and will try to do the same with it. I'll post back with my results.

  5. Did the same w/ TMPGEnc and got the same results -- MPEG2/DVD compliant file in the DVD2SVCD\MOVIE directory with the name of bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg.

This file should be suitable to Author and Burn to DVD w/ Nero.

You may have a problem and need to re-install DVD2SVCD and/or TMPGEnc.

Also -- you do have TMPGEnc Plus with MPEG2 capability, don't you? If you are using TMPGEnc and not Plus -- MPEG-2 functionality is disabled after 30 days.

If you are doing a recover with dvd2svcd then it will reset using sonic scenarist, after you load the recover then check dont use images.
