  1. 1. Even though i have a dcs 200 i am about to buy a firewire card. Is there anything special that i should look for when i get my card ?

    I am asking all these questions because i want to get back into capturing & editing video seriously and messed wit it a little a couple of years ago but got out of it...... so i want to make sure when i do buy these things i get basically the best

    My Dazzle box makes a great doorstop. First time it's every done anything useful since I bought it. I went with a ADVC-100 and never looked back. On Firewire cards, just about any you can find will work. Don't pay more than $50US or less than $20. For Firewire video transfers you can use DVIO, WinDV or Scenalyzer, all three are popular. As far as drives go, an internal IDE of 80-120 Gigs is a good start if you have the room in your box. Otherwise a Firewire drive would be OK. The other questions I'll have to leave to others.
