I have recorded footage from analogue camcorder onto DVD+RW using my Philips DVDR75
I rip the contents of the DVD+RW using DVD Decrypter using IFO I mode, with File Splitting set to NONE.
I select the PGC I want to rip (there appears to be two identical lots of PGC's, when browsing the DVD+RW in Explorer the original had two lots of VOB's, but I believe this is normal for the Philips?)
I now have a contigous vob file of my footage that I rename to .mpg
This plays fine on a PC media player.
I now want to edit the footage on my PC using either uleads Videostudio or DVD Workshop.
My problem is that when I load the file, I get no sound. It isn't heard in the pre-view or if I export the trimmed clip back to my hdd.
Any ideas????
Thanks
Nezza

Does the Philips unit record stereo AC-3 audio?
If so, Ulead VideoStudio doesn't support the editing/encoding of AC-3 audio.
AC-3 audio editing and encoding is supported by:
Ulead MediaStudio Pro:

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 "Disc Creator Version"

Ulead DVD Workshop AC-3 Version

The latest version of DVD Shrink can now handle discs created in Philips DVD Recorders. Use the re-author mode and the "start-stop" option.....create a new folder for each piece....put it together with TMPGEnc DVD Author (30 day trial).

Thanks for the replies guys, but I have now discovered that Videostudio can input AC-3 just won't output it, which is fine by me 'cause it will convert it to LPCM
After ripping a continous VOB with DVDDecrypter & renaming it to *.mpg:
Launch Videostudio, go straight to SHARE;
Click CREATE DISC;
Select DVD output disc format ;
UNCHECK CREATE MENUS;
Click ADD VIDEO (ignore the warning about no AC-3 support)
Click NEXT, then NEXT again;
Check the CREATE DVD FOLDERS option
Click the Project Settings box at bottom, (you'll see the audio is set to LPCM 48Khz, Stereo) ensure the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT MPEG FILES is checked - it won't then spend an age re-rendering the file.
Finally, click OUTPUT.
the resultant file will have the same video quality as the original, but with LPCM sound
the file can now be loaded into an editor & played with until your hearts content
Oops..nearly forgot, the resultant file will be VOB's, so will need re-ripping & renaming!
Cheers
