DVD 2 AVI has become a generic term these days.

If what you want is an AVI (xvid, divx, etc) version of the movie, a quite simple way to achieve this would be:

Rip the DVD on disk (e.g. with DVDDecrypter) and then extract the video and audio tracks you want toa single VOB file

    or

Rip the DVD directly from the DVD-ROM onto the disk in file mode into a single VOB file.

Then, open that with VirtualDUB mod (accepts MPEG-2 video and AC3 audio). VirtualDUB will scan the file while opening, this is normal to take a few minutes.

Then, select the output compression codecs for audio and video and save to AVI.

I believe that programs like FlaskMpeg (remember that?) or DVD2AVI have become obsolete, although they still work.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

    oh ok thx alot!
but if i have the movie in many "vob's" and "ifo's" and all that in the Video_TS folder so how do i turn it into a one "vob" file? or do i have to do it from the disc?
