    Hi,

    I've been using VirtualVCR & the Huffyuv codec to capture avi from VHS sources.

    I'm now thinking of splashing out on a commercial package that will capture and edit the avi.

    Are there any software suites that will allow me to still use the Huffyuv codec when capturing to avi ?? I'm particularily thinking of Ulead Video Studio 7, as it seems to have a good range of tools/functions.

    Cheers,

    Moonstomp.

    I know it is selectable in Video Studio 7, why not download the trial version and see if it works for you?

    Thanks Tommy,

    I'll give it a try - it's a BIG download - about 75 mb and I don't have Broadband.

    Is it a good editor ?? I'm going from VHS to DVD.

    Thanks,

    Moonstomp.

    Yes, it gets the job done. If you do decide to buy it, remember to get the extra transitions. It gives a total of some 110 transitions to work with.

    IMPORTANT AND DEFINITELY **VERY RELIABLE** INFORMATION :

    I am a registered user of UVS7 and contacted the OFICIAL support some months ago cause I've noticed that UVS DOES NOT work with HuffYUV codec, although it's listed;

    Ulead OFICIAL staff advised me that HuffYUV DOESN'T ACTUALLY work with VS7; due to some hardware/software encoding level diferences (technical explanation);

    Thanks Zetti !!

    How do you find Video Studio in general ?

    Don't suppose you know of any other commercial capture/editing software that actually does allow you to use Huffyuv ??

    Cheers,

    Moonstomp.

    I rate it 9.5 out of 10, as I don't use HuffYUV;

    There's a trick to have the frame counter on it, I posted itrecentlyhere but don't have it handy now, make a search or write me later so I can tell you;

    ATI MMC does support HuffYUV, but it only works with ATI cards, I don't know other software;

    Thanks Zetti,

    I found the post on the Frame Counter here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=756449&highlight=frame+counter+zetti#756449

    It will be a great help.

  10. What's the deal here Zeti?

    I've been using Ulead Video Studio 7 for a month now. Always using HUFFYUV. Did some stuff last night as well.

    What is VS7 doing, is it defaulting to another codec? Somehow I doubt that. But enlighten me if you can.

    Thanks

    !

  11. I'll add what little I know about this subject. I have UVS V6 and it won't capture with Huffy. I've tried all the patches and all the settings in Huffy and still it 'defaults' to Intel Indeo Video 4.5 everytime. It will read AVIs captured with the codec, but it won't write with it.

    A few months back I downloaded and tried UVS V7 and it has always worked with Huffy codec for me. No problems.

    I'm using an ATI AIW video card and maybe that makes a difference, I wouldn't know.

    I've read several complaints about Ulead products and I agree with most of those, but I like UVS version 6 and use it often. V7 I uninstalled.

    Good luck.
