Is this a good deal? These DVD's may be bad quality? Not sure how PCMall is about rebates either.

Heck, looks like a GREAT deal! You cant beat it for free........That said... If you get your rebate and If you can decipher what the disc is. I am not sure if it is a +R or a -R because it states both in the website. Too confusing for me, maybe wait for soemone else to bite first.

  3. There are Leadata, but for that price, even with out the rebate there pretty cheap, i reckon they are +R, it says + all the way and the - bit at the end sounds like its inserted in all their listing.

I went ahead and ordered them. What the heck, give it a shot.
The rebate form does say it's good for BMI 25pk of DVD+R media only.
So, they have a few typos in the description. It will end up costing (hopefully) around $7.79 for the shipping.

What bothers me a little is that the rebate form says it must be postmarked 15 days after the purchase date. Well, if they are on backorder or the slow shipping doesn't get them to me in time, will the rebate be void??

I'll post when I get them.

  13. PC mall has been back ordered on the DVD+R for some time. I work within walking distance of the Torrance retail store. I asked late last week, and they had 740+ people on back order and expected delivery first week in December for quantity of 2000.

But they did have a good deal and IN STOCK DVD-R…SKU#173350
    http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=173350
    http://www.pcmall.com/Images/RAPCoupons/4967.pdf

BMI DVD-R 4.78GB 4x speed Plain semi-gloss white top coat, dark purple burn side

I bought these from PC mall $20 for qty 25 is the regular price, and they have a $10 mail in rebate until the end of the year. ($10/25 = 0.40 a piece!)

I had no problems burning to these with my Viao Pioneer 106D and playing on my computer or standalones.

Just an update to let those know that bought these. I have a confirmation that these have been shipped to me. Only thing is that I cant figure out the dang reference code they gave me to track them on ups website. Its a long azz #, but its not a ups tracking #. They are on the way, but if anyone can get a way to find the real tracking # then let me know. BTW, these were shipped 26 Nov.

  18. $9 for shipping is pretty high (to seattle) and I've had problems with these guys before-- to the extent that falsly advertised a rebate price. Then I called, they said they would credit it me... they didn't ... had to dispute the charge, the was on a 3-way call with them and my credit card they said "yes, we said we'd give him a credit but then it wasn't approved" what? it was funny the CC person was irate with them and made them put the credit through right then.
I have avoided this shady company since then.

for $9 shipping... and having to trust this guys... for an unknown quality of media.... I'll pass.

Well, my shipment is expected here wednesday and I'll post back then. I got right thru to customer service too. Dont know why shipping was so much just up the coast when it was $7.99 here to Florida, maybe ur package was heavier. Free after rebate, so decent deal...As long as I get the rebate but even without it then its still an ok price.

  20. I'm guessing they don't ship from California... I dunno, we could enter a bunch of different zip codes and see...but it doesn't really help.
I seem to remember things I got from them long ago(5-8 years ago) came from Minnesota or somewhere else not CA. No idea now, places ship from all over these days.

I would imagine that almost all dvd media is made in asia and Cali is the nearest port of importation. Maybe when you got something from from Minnisota it was like 4 super bowl loses video tapes or maybe a snow ball or something... I dunno. And i did try different zips and the prices do vary. Anywayzzz we'll see how the rebate goes. I'll post in 2 months if and when I get it. I'm not holding my breath though. LOL

  22. I think the warehouse gets the delivery before the store (not sure since I did not order online). And I understand the warehouse orders are filled before the store is stocked. But there was an order on Fri Dec 26th for the DVD-R. They were only able to hold one for me in the store (I just picked it up) and they sold out of Qty 500 by Sunday (Nov 30)! They are expecting another order on Thursday Dec 4. They said they weren't sure if the DVD+R would also come in with that shippment (or if they were ever coming in at all!).

So I'm not sure if anyone has gotten any DVD+R- did anyone who ordered these online receive any word?

How about those with DVD-R orders? Any word there?

Sounds like the deal that is too good to be true (DVD+R$20 with $20 rebate) is just that....But I bet there has been a bunch of "free publicity" with all this going one, eh? Buyer be warily...

Ok, cant get a good read on dvdinfopro, showing no dvd. maybe its my crappy hp300n. nero shows me able to burn an image at only 2.4, even though the package states 2.4x-4x. hmm, need to fiddle around some more.

thanks for the updates. i know with some + media DVDInfoPro cannot tell you anything until something is burnt on it. anyway thanks again and keep us posted. i will post when my shipment comes in (Left TN on 11/26 and due on 12/5). don't forget to mail the rebate form...you have 15 days from the date on your invoice (ie when it was shipped).

    Yea noki
I know I may have to burn something to get a reading on the disc.
I did a simulation burn with nero and it still showed 2.4x.

Let me know how yours goes as well. I emailed the company to ask about the speed, will also post back if they reply.

Still although I'm disappointed at the writing speed, I can live with free dvd's after rebate.

when you do burn one of these dvdrs run DVDInfo on it and it will show all the possible burn speed the media is capable of. if it lists 4x you might try something other than Nero. i will keep you posted. thanks for replying.
