  1. Hey

The 2 files are exactly the same spec VCD.

What am I doing wrong? The merged file has no sound track.

You could join the audio as well, with an audio editor, like Gold Wave, then mux the two files.
    Hello.

  3. Thanks for your reply tommy.

Yes that´s true and I´ve already set plans to do that if everything else fails but this TMPGEnc´s feature is suposed to work and the problem could only be that I´m doing something wrong.

I´d really like to learn how to do it correctly for future projects.

  4. I just did this in tmpgenc v2.521 without any problem. I tried both MPEG-1 System (automatic) and MPEG-1 Video CD like yours. When you push the 'Run" button do you get 3 status messages indicating video stream, then audio stream, then multiplexing?

you´re right - I only get the video message and then directly to multiplex - that explains why there´s no sound.

I´ve tried both MPEG-1 System (automatic) and MPEG-1 Video CD also and no diference.

    Still can´t get sound

  6. Update

I´m using version 2.59.47.155 of TMPGEnc Plus.

I´ve tried joining 2 other VCD files that have the exact same specs as the other 2 (AVICodec) both audio and video and I got the video, audio and mux messages...

    the plot thickens

but this TMPGEnc´s feature is suposed to work
Yes - for mpegs encoded with TMPGEnc. If not, it's hit and miss. Mostly miss.

  8. The VCD files I used were from Adobe Premiere 6.5. You might try downloading a free trial of Womble mpeg-vcr and use the GOP fixer tool in the tools menu to scan the file for errors ( you can just scan without changing anything). You could also try to demultipex one of the VCD files with tmpgenc ( same tools menu as merge and cut ) and see if it actually produces an audio file that plays.

  9. Yep Womble did it at first try - I´m not sure if it was a GOP issue because that VCD played in several set top DVD´s (shouldn´t they they be picky about open and non-standard GOP´s?)

    Thanks everybody
