I have created a video and photo montage for a demo and I wanted to do something with my pictures that I have seen on other demos. For every picture I wanted to zoom in on it. In other words, when the picture first comes up it looks normal then it is like you zoom it in where it gets closer and closer then you can fade out to the next picture and do the same thing. I am sure this is a simple effect in Premiere but I have no idea where to find it. Could some one please help? Thanks so much!

I think you would do this using the transform filter.
For loads of help with premiere go to the tutrials section of www.wrigleyvideo.com.

Hi jones_randy,
I use Premiere 6.0 and have done this - it's easier to explain using screenshots rather than words. I'm at work at the moment, but will try to post when home.
I don't believe 6.5 is different in terms of core functionality, so it should be the same for you.

to zoom or move a picture or video clip I do the following:
select the clip, right click - video options - motion
from the motion settings box you can use the slider bars to rotate, zoom and set the delay.
Simple as that. Hope the info helps! -

I use 6.0 and the article I have say this.
Ken Burns-style Zooms and Pans in Premiere
Import your photo onto the timeline,
Select Viedo-Transform-Image Pan and drop it onto the clip on the timeline. NOTE: do not use Motion in Effects control--though you can approximate the same effect, you will lose resolution, plus motion will distort the aspect ratio of vertical pictures.
In effects Contols, click the second box to allow Key Framing, then click setup.
Adjust the window while holding down the "alt" key, which will constrain the aspect ratio to the dimensions you have set. Click settings.
Set the pointer to the last frame of the clip. Click on Image pan Setup in effects controls.
Adjust the window while holding down the "alt" key for the final position. And render.
I use this and it works very well. Keep in mind to have a high res photo, I use 1600x1200 pixels to start and don't zoom in more than a final ratio of 800x600 and your quality will still be very good. -
Hi jones_randy,
Referring to my post on 12 Jan, 2004 14:53 - sorry I haven't got back sooner.
I don't know if this is what you want, but I use the transition "Cross Zoom" in Premiere 6.0 (which the following relates to, may be different in 6.5):
It's easier to understand if you're in "A/B Editing" mode: Window->Workspace->A/B Editing
You put the first picture in the "Video 1A" timeline and the second picture in the "Video 1B" timeline - overlapping by the number of seconds you want the transition to last.
You then drag the "Cross Zoom" from the "Transitions" tools window (Window -> Show Transitions) to the "Transition" line in-between the overlap:
You'll then need to render before exporting the timeline. If you want to see how it'll look before rendering, right-click the transition and choose "Transition Settings". Select or deselect "Show Actual Sources" as you prefer and then slide the bar under the left picture (representing the timeline of that letter / picture) from left to right.
If you're first picture is on timeline "B", you'll need to reverse the order in the transition settings by changing the down arrow on the bottom far right to an up arrow by clicking on it (this is in the transition settings window too.
Hope that's of use...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
