skipping dvds

hi i have an LG 4040B dvd writer. i'm new to the dvd burning thing. i use clonedvd and my movies turn out ok. the only problem it skips once in a while and picture gets distoreded in some frames. this happens when i burn the whole dvd and when i just burn the movie. what can be wrong? oh i burn at 2x and 4x and still the same.

can i use multiple programs to rip->encode->burn and oucome would be better?

It is probably the type of media you use (ie "cheap media"). Tell us what brand you use and we can tell you id cheap meda is the cause.

Basially, if you use Princo or something like that, that is probably 99% the reason. The other reasons are the disc is dirty or the DVD player is somewhat picky.

99% chance it's your media in your player.

This has been debated before, but some people, myself included, have had problems with dvd's that were labeled with stick on labels - may make disc harder to read, off balance.

Try Ritek G04 from www.rima.com
Also BeAlls worked for me for a while till I switched to Riteks.

Are you using +R or -R?
