  1. Having a strange thing happen with trial version of Intervideo DVD platinum. Seems the files it creates in the VIDEO_TS folder disappear from the hard drive when the program completes writing them. Let me try and explain further.

I am in the process of converting all of my VHS home videos to DVD. I've become pretty good at doing so. I find however, sometimes the VHS tapes are too long to fit on a single 4.7 DVD so I use DVD Shrink to make them fit. Though DVD Shrink does a great job and has the best price of all of em I saw the trial for Intervideo so I wanted to give it a shot and see if it would even produce better quality then Shrink does.

I installed the program and all seemed fine. Since I do not want to use Intervideo to burn the actual DVD, for the source option, I chose the VIDEO_TS folder that holds the files I create from the VHS tapes. For the target option, I chose a temp VIDEO_TS I created on the hard drive. I click the burn icon and off I go. The program goes through the whole transcode/create process and gives a completed sucesssful message. I went back to the VIDEO_TS folder where these newly created files should have been and found nothing. Folder was empty. I searched the hard drive thinking they must have just gone to another preset folder or something like that..but nothing. The files were not there. So I figured I musta screwed something up so I redid the whole process..but this time I kept Windows explorer open behing the Intervideo Copy. I watched as it created all the need vobs and files. It comes to the end and gives the sucessful complete message..and in the background in the Explorer window I see all the files scroll up and disappear. Just as they would do if I had deleted them myself with the delete button.

The program does not have many options to choose from so I'm not sure exactly what I am doin wrong. Any help is appreciated as I need the files to remain on the hard drive so I can burn them. I do not want to use Intervideo to burn.

  2. Wow, this same thing happened to me, with the full (non-trial) version. I just returned the program.

Oh yeah, and it didthe same thing when I set it to burn the dvd automatically. It gave some kind of error and the files were gone, and no burned dvd.

Yeah I have the full version and I noticed that too... What you can do is copy the VIDEO_TS folder , rename it , and place it somewhere else on your hard drive, before burning the dvd. This may be a long process, but it won't hurt to try it
