  1. Hello,

I have DVD-Lab 1.4 Pro and was trying to make a complex DVD structure. I haven't been able to find many specs. about DVD-Lab. I know it can support 99 slides in one slideshow, but I was wondering the max number of movies you can have.

I want to create a DVD that has 3 slideshows and 37 movies. Before anyone flips out, everything comes out to 3.5Gb, because the longest movie is 5 minutes. I know I could have combined some of the movies, but I'm trying to make it where a viewer can either pick to watch only one movie or all of them in a set. I plan to divide the disc into 3 distinct sections. I'm not doing an X-Files DVD, but I would like to have a similar structure to one of the TV Season extras discs. On those, there is a section that has TV spots. You can either pick one to watch or hit a Play All button. There is also a featurettes section where you can do the same. I would like to mimic this and have several Play All buttons as well. Is that possible with DVD-Lab? I know one Play All button is possible, but I haven't seen any mention of having multiple ones.

I've made several simple DVD structures with DVD-Lab, but this is my first attempt at a complex one. I've been trying to follow the complex structure guide at: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/multivts.html

However, I'm still trying to grasp some of the concepts. The guide goes over how to make a two VTS project. Is it possible to make a 3 or more VTS project? I need 3.

    Thanks

  2. You can have up to 99 movies in DVD-Lab.

As far as the multiple VTS goes, the DVD standard resolutions are 720x480(NTSC) or 352x480(NTSC) so you would really only need 2 VTS.

The multiple VTS is there to allow for more than one resolution on one DVD. DVD-Lab will wind up combining everything that is under one VTS anyway into one movie anyway.

I have not tried to do more than 2, but you could always test it and see if it will allow more.

and 704*480 and 352*240 (Both NTSC) are legal DVD rez too.

Also, you should use different titlesets if the audio format changes (Mp2, LPCM, Ac3 etc).

So you could easily want more than 2 titlesets for these reasons alone.

  4. Thanks for the information guys. I feel kind of foolish because all of the movies I want to put on the DVD are all the same resolution 4:3 (720x480), so I may be able to make a simple structure. I was thinking I needed a complex structure because I was going to have three main sections that you pick from the main menu and then 3 more menus with more selections to go to more menus where each of the movies and/or slideshows would be linked to.

So, if my resolutions are all the same, I really don't need a multiple VTS structure. Is that correct?

    Thanks.

Correct. (and all audio is the same format)

You can have as many menu pages as you like (well, up to 99 I think), but you don't need multiple titlesets.

  6. Bugster is correct, I totally forgot about the audio thing(I usually keep all mine the same anyway) and the 704 res.

Thanks for picking up my loose ends.
