Hi,
Ok i've been reading and reading and i'm awfully confused right now because there is so much to read but i've not really been able to find a definitive solution to what i want.
I have a bunch of DVDs.. some DVDs have more then one Movie on them. Like 2 or 3 movies.
What i want to do is simply extract one particular movie out of a DVD, another out of another DVD, and make a 3rd DVD which has these 2 movies...
Can anyone suggest me what is the best way of doing this?
I don't want to encode/rencode video files back and forth into divx and this and that - if there is a better alternate.
I'm familiar with DVDecrypter, DVDShrink and all.. but i'm not getting how to do what i want to do with them.
Any help will be deeply appreciated..
Mickey

'Rip' with DVDShrink. You get VOB's. Use 100% no compression.
'Author' with TMPG Author, it imports VOB's and supports AC3.
Very simple, very quick. Supports basic menus and chapter points. I do it for my 'Best Of' DVD's. No re-encoding required. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -

You're a life-saver, you know that right?
I had just stumbled onto some guides which were telling me to do exactly what you're telling me.. and i was thinking does this really work and i better find out if this is what i need to do.. and then i saw your post.
Thanks.
One question though... Tmpg Author.... Is there an Alternate? I believe TMPG Author doesn't support chapters or subtitles.. nor multiple audio streams. Well i wouldn't care much about Multiple Audios, but subtitles and Chapters i do care about.
I normally use DVDMaestro for my DVD Authoring.. works perfect. I create everything i want to in it. I know it doesn't import VOBs so it can't be used.. but something else maybe..
Thanks again,

I would like to ask a question on this subject. I thought it would be better to ask in this form then to start a whole new one since my question has to do with this procedure.
I have taken a DVD movie with 2 differnt movies on it. One was the original version the other a special edition director's version.
I used smartripper to rip the video and AC3 stream of my choice out.
I then used IFO-Edit. I told it to do a DVD author. I took my steams and put them into the proper fields. (I'm not sitting in front of my computer right now to know the names of the fields, but you should get the general idea) Once this is done you can start the author process and IFO-edit will build you a complete VOB set off of your video & audio stream.
Now my question is "Why do I not have any chapter points left in my movie after doing this"? When I play the movie in PowerDVD, I have one large movie file with no chapter markings of any kind.
Does IFO-Edit's author feature not suppose chapters? If not, then what program will allow me to keep them when I rebuild the movie?
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
