I have ripped my dvd9 to hard drive and used dvd shrink without any problems but when I try to load it into my burn program it gives me the error "file format mismatch". I was using Ulead Moviefactory to try to burn my dvdr. Any sugestions? What programs will allow me to burn the file.

I'm wondering why you are ripping to your HD using a separate utility when DVD Shrink by itself with do that for you. As far as burning, I use Nero 6.3.0.2 and have had 100% good results. Others hate it but I attribute the problems with individual setups/DVD drives/Firmware etc.

Use shrink to rip to a folder with shrinking aplied if needed.
Open nero and choose you dvd burner
On the left of the wizard window choose DVD-MOVIE
You will see two folders that Nero created titled AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS
    Open the now empty VIDEO_TS
Using the Explorer on the right side locate the folder where you told DVD Shrink to save your ripped files and highlight the files and drag to the open VIDEO_TS folder
Click the burn button - The one with the little flame
    That's all

Or if you have burning software that will burn a 'DVD IMAGE', use a tool such as 'ImgTool' or 'IfoEdit' to convert your VIDEO_TS directory to an 'ISO' image file, and just burn that.

ok I used burnatonce and got the files burned to dvdrw. but it will not work in the set top box-- a sanyo. gives an error of "no disc". when I put the dvdrw in the computer and it opens up to the 'audio and video ts' folders. when I select the first vob file it will play the movie.
is the copy of the movie suppose to play in a set top or for that matter in the computer by using these programs? it does not play like the original dvd. the only other dvd burning programs i have are ulead moviefactory and ulead dvd workshop. these programs will not accept the vob files to burn.

any other suggestions or hints on what i am doing wrong?

  7. Hi all.

bballnut, burnatonce will only work as expected if you burned to DVD-R(W), not "+R(W)".
If you did and used burnatonce as described here, your backup should be fine.

The problem would then probably be caused by either:

    - Your Sanyo is not compatible with DVD-RW.

    - Your media is not good or reflective enough for the Sanyo.

But then again I might be totally wrong.

Sounds like your desktop player does not like the discs (either the brand or the format).
    If in doubt, Google it.

On my setup (NEC ND 1300) there's one procedure that works 100%:So far, DVD-R and DVD+RW (Maxell 2.4x) works, DVD-RW (Maxell 1x) doesn't. But that's probably related to what my stand alone player handles. On the computer all formats work equally well.

I always use ImgTools Classic Version to create an ISO IMAGE file when using any program (like DVDShrink or DVD2ONE) that spits out a VIDEO_TS DIR of DVD Files.

Then simply use DVD Decrypter to burn.

Works like a charm every time and both ImgTools Classic and DVD Decrypter are FREEWARE programs.

    I am using this combination:

    DVDDecrypter --> DVDShrink --> Nero 5.5
    Media: Memorex 4x DVD+R, Verbatim 2.4X DVD+R (No others)

    Work Flawless.

"It" doesn't open - something opens it. What, depends on what you've told your system to use (or is set as default). Try starting a software DVD player like PowerDVD and see what happens. It ought to look for Video DVD in all drives, and start the movie if it finds any.
